Saints Percussion Continues To Improve Competition Scores

Limestone College鈥檚 indoor drumline, known as Saints Percussion, competed at the Winter Guard International Spartanburg Regional at Dorman High School on March 2 and performed its show 鈥淏ehind Blue Eyes.鈥�

The show featured music by The Who and was the first public performance of the program in its entirety. Saints Percussion finished in third place with a score of 72.65, an 11-point increase of a prior score from the ensemble鈥檚 charter season in 2014.

Saints Percussion also competed on March 16 at the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association (CWEA) contest held at Rock Hill High School.聽 The group finished in second place with a score of 75.5.

鈥淥ur recent positive results against some tough competition are a direct result of the effort put in by the performing members and staff,鈥� said Saints Percussion Director Jonan Keeny. 鈥淥ur musicians聽typically rehearse together around 20 hours each weekend, in addition to their own preparation outside of rehearsal, and their hard work is paying off.聽 Our scores are increasing every time we compete, and we are confident we are on the right track聽as we get closer to WGI聽World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.鈥�

On March 24 at 5:10 p.m., Saints Percussion heads聽to Winthrop University for CWEA Championships,聽which will be its聽final adjudicated event prior to their appearance in Dayton.

Limestone鈥檚 indoor drumline made its 2019 debut on January 26 at the CWEA Premiere West held at Dorman High School. Presenting approximately half of its program, the ensemble posted a score of 71.7. Coming off a 10th place finish at World Championships last season, Saints Percussion鈥檚 core of veteran members have been integral to its continued success this season.
