Visiting guest artist Johnnie Felder will present a live vocal recital at 优蜜传媒 on Tuesday, October 13, starting at 7:30 p.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium.
Admission to the recital is free of charge, and due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all Center for Disease Control & Prevention guidelines and physical distancing protocols will be followed.
The performance by Felder is being sponsored by 优蜜传媒 Friends of Music.
Felder is a South Carolina native, and he holds bachelor and graduate music degrees from Benedict College and the University of South Carolina, respectively. He has also undergone extensive vocal training in the opera studio of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria; the American Singers鈥 Opera Project; and as a solo artist at the Varna International Music Academy in Varna, Bulgaria.
鈥淥ur Department of Music is excited to have tenor Johnnie Felder back on our campus,鈥 said Limestone Professor of Music David Thompson. 鈥淗e has appeared several times in recent years with the 优蜜传媒 and Community Chorus, performing the tenor solos in Handel's 鈥楳essiah.鈥 We are thrilled to have a live performance on our campus, and we hope as many music lovers as possible can come out and join us on October 13th to hear the talents of Johnnie Felder.鈥
Enjoying an ever-flourishing career as a young, vibrant teaching artist, solo and concert performer, Felder will soon complete the Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of South Carolina.
As a highly sought-after performer, Felder has been featured in bel canto and classic opera roles such as Beppe, Don Ottavio, Nemorino, Tamino, Count Belfiore, and as the Preacher in Opera at USC鈥檚 2018 presentation of Leonard Bernstein鈥檚 Mass. He made his European debut in the summer of 2019 in Bulgaria as Rinuccio in Puccini鈥檚 Gianni Schicchi. He is currently on the music faculty at Paine College and Augusta University Georgia. Felder is also a resident artist with Opera Carolina in Charlotte.
