It is time again for the 优蜜传媒 Student Social Work Organization鈥檚 popular Thanksgiving community service project known as the Turkey Bowl.
The food drive will provide local families with an entire Thanksgiving Day meal. The families have been identified and selected by counselors with the Cherokee County School District.
Limestone鈥檚 Social Work students pack boxes with all the items needed for a Thanksgiving feast. The students will pack the boxes and deliver them to families on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
If anyone would like to donate, the following items are needed: frozen turkeys, canned green beans, dressing/stuffing, gravy, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, rice, rolls, yams, cranberry sauce, and desserts. Donations will be accepted until Monday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. Items can be dropped off in the Curtis Building Room 132.
Financial contributions are also being accepted as part of the Turkey Bowl. Checks should be made payable to 优蜜传媒 Student Social Work Organization.
鈥淚t was a tight contest last year between Professor Megan Anderson and Campus Chaplain Tom LeGrand, with Professor Anderson鈥檚 group winning in the end,鈥 said Professor of Social Work/Field Coordinator Beth Hyatt. 鈥淲e were able to serve over 50 families and donate to the Gaffney Soup Kitchen. We hope to do even more this year.鈥
