The 优蜜传媒 Chorus will present its Spring Concert on Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium.
The program will begin with a selection of early choral music, including works from Bach and Schubert, before proceeding through its 鈥淩oaring 20s鈥 theme. Favorite tunes from the 1920s period of dramatic social change include 鈥淚t Don't Mean a Thing,鈥 鈥淭he Varsity Drag,鈥 and others.
Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
Guest instrumentalists will include members of the 优蜜传媒 Jazz Combo, students playing recorders, and the Limestone Chorus鈥 accompanist for the last 30 years, Dr. David B. Thompson, at the piano.
Singers in the chorus include Limestone students, as well as members of the Gaffney community. The concert director is Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education, Dr. Gena E. Poovey.
鈥Often, a theme-based program seems to be the way to go, especially in the spring,鈥 Poovey said. 鈥淭his is one of those years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the research involved in planning a program of music that will be interesting for our audience, and educational for student singers. The voices, the variety of instruments, and the songs from various centuries are sure to please the senses on a lovely spring afternoon.鈥
